OVERVIEW

A vampire facial can have a dramatic impact on your skin! Also known medically as platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy with microneedling, this nonsurgical treatment relies on your own blood extraction, as it contains 3 – 5 times more platelets, growth factors, and active proteins for tissue and injury healing. To get impressive results, patients can add microneedling with the MicroPen® Elite to their PRP therapy treatment to create what is called the “vampire facial.” The microneedling helps the PRP serum reach deeper into the skin for maximum impact.

Our plastic and reconstructive surgeons, Drs. Tessler, Matatov and Torabi, offer the vampire facial at Elite Plastic Surgery to help your skin produce healthier collagen, reduce fine lines, and wrinkles, assist in tightening and toning your skin, and plump some of your facial skin loss. Since we use your own blood, there is no risk of allergic reaction or side effects from this treatment. Every patient is different, so results and surgical techniques may vary from patient to patient. Call and learn more today at a scheduled consultation.

HOW IT WORKS

Originally used in orthopedic medicine, reconstructive surgery, and dentistry, the principles of PRP therapy have been applied in plastic surgery for skin rejuvenation. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient and then spun in a special centrifuge until the stem cells, platelets, and growth factors are concentrated, which turns it into platelet rich plasma (PRP). The prepared PRP is then applied to the face for 15 – 20 minutes as it stimulates the growth of new collagen and tissue, in tandem with the microneedling treatment.

AFTER PRP THERAPY

PRP stimulates collagen growth for facial rejuvenation that helps to improve wrinkles, puffiness under the eyes, as well as enhancing the overall skin tone, texture, and elasticity. For the first 1 – 3 days after the procedure, patients may have some mild swelling, redness, and bruising. Patients will begin to see improvements to their skin in about 3 – 4 weeks after their treatment, which usually last about 6 – 18 months. For better results, patients can have multiple treatments, scheduled every 1 – 2 months.
