OVERVIEW

When your skin ages, the framework of collagen and elastin naturally begins to erode. This unfortunate erosion cultivates lines and wrinkles within your skin. We provide our patients at Elite Plastic Surgery with cosmetic fillers that can be injected to lift and plump the skin to create firmness in the treated areas, such as the skin folds, fine lines, sunken facial features, cheek depressions, and chin dimples. Our injections specialist, Caren Kunda, offers these injections, which last between 6 months – 2 years, depending upon the type of filler, what area is treated, and the severity of the skin being filled or augmented.

Areas we can treat and enhance with cosmetic fillers:

  • Marionette lines at the corners of the mouth
  • Deep smile lines that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Smokers lines around the mouth and lip area
  • Lip lines that are undefined
  • Sunken/fallen cheeks
  • Under eye hollowness
  • Thin lips – increase lip pout and volume

TYPES OF DERMAL FILLERS

Our plastic surgery office offers many different options and brands for dermal fillers:

FAT TRANSFER

It is becoming more popular for patients to use their own fat from one part of the body to have it injected into another part for augmentation. A fat transfer produces natural feeling and looking results of the injected fat.

HYALURONIC ACID

The most commonly used dermal and cosmetic products use an acid gel, which is a natural chemical constituent of the skin and therefore less likely to cause an allergic reaction.

SCULPTRA – POLYLACTIC ACID

Once Sculptra(a polylactic acid) is injected, it begins to increase collagen production. Patients will not be able to see the results of polylactic acid immediately, but the fullness will appear over time.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma purports to rejuvenate the skin by injecting your own blood plasma under your dermis, to stimulate cell growth and collagen production. And it’s become quite a sought-after non-surgical procedure. It promises to improve complexion, texture, and restore lost facial volume. This a natural approach to anti-aging.

PRP Gel (Platelet-Rich-Plasma Gel)

The PRP Gel procedure is still your own plasma, but it is put into a second machine that creates a more solid gel. This actually helps increase the rejuvenation process speed, so the areas treated can be visibly noticed and rejuvenated faster.

KYBELLA

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin/submental chin fat, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.  KYBELLA can also be used  in jowls that have extra accumulation of fat.

RESTYLANE

Restylane Lyft, a FDA approved treatment for use on the hands. A treatment that slows down the effects of aging on your hands. It uses an injectable gel filler known as Restylane Lyft to correct age-related volume loss in the back of the hands. The injection eliminates moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. The filler can last 1 year.

DURING/AFTER INJECTABLES

We will assess your facial features, wrinkles, and contours before injecting the face with the chosen filler. Marks will be made on the skin at the injection sites after the skin is cleansed and a local anesthetic is applied to numb the skin, which may be applied to the area for treatment 20 minutes or so prior to the injection session.

Using a pre-filled syringe with a fine needle, the filler is injected into the marked areas until the desired fullness has been achieved. Keep in mind that the deeper the wrinkle, the deeper the product is injected into the skin. Different injection techniques may be used depending on the type of filler (some fillers are thicker than others).
