How Rhinoplasty Surgery Can Help

Cosmetic Benefits

Here at Elite Plastic Surgery, our surgical team is excited to utilize its highly refined set of surgical skills and keenly developed artistic sensibility to increase or reduce the size of your nose, change the width or length of either the nasal bridge or tip of the nose, reshape the nostrils, and even change the size of the space between the nose and the lip.

Functional Benefits

In addition to offering you a number of cosmetic benefits, rhinoplasty surgery can also be utilized to help you breathe more clearly. By addressing the presence of a deviated septum or another issue that is keeping you from breathing properly, nose surgery at Elite PS can help you ensure that you’re enjoying your fullest possible quality of life.

The Exciting Benefits of Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

Because results and techniques vary from patient to patient, our team of talented plastic surgeons will work with you to help you explore other procedures that can potentially complement your nose-reshaping surgery to ensure that your facial features display a harmonious sense of balance.

At Elite Plastic Surgery, the key objectives to rhinoplasty for facial harmony are:

  • To make the nose more proportionate to your facial features and profile
  • To improve the external appearance of the nose
  • To reduce the size or length of the nose
  • To reform the shape and size of the nostrils for easier breathing and cosmetic enhancement

Should I Consider Septoplasty?

In addition to helping you with cosmetic enhancements, nose surgery can also address functional issues. Our surgeons can help you correct a nasal blockage, a deviated or crooked septum, a birth defect, or other issues that are keeping you from breathing clearly through your nose or obstructing your sinus’ function. We also see patients who were born with nasal deformities at birth or who experience difficulty breathing after a traumatic accident involving the nose. Septoplasty can be ideal for you if you’re experiencing any of the following issues:

  • A deviated septum
  • Snoring
  • Sleep apnea
  • Nasal impediments
  • Sinus-related problems
  • Airway obstructions

Do I Qualify for Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is ideal for patients who are looking for an effective way to enhance their facial appearance while also potentially correcting certain breathing issues. The procedure can be performed at any age, though it is generally suggested that children and teens wait to undergo this procedure until their facial growth is complete.

Good candidates for rhinoplasty will be interested in addressing the following concerns:

  • A disproportionate nose
  • A deviated septum
  • An enlarged nasal tip
  • Excessively flared nostrils
  • Crooked or off-center nasal bridge
  • Difficulty breathing clearly
  • Chronic sleeping issues

Our Expert Surgical Technique

Thanks to their extensive training and wide breadth of experience, our surgeons are able to offer patients a number of approaches and techniques that can be used during nose surgery. We offer both open and closed rhinoplasty, in addition to a “non-surgical nose job” that can create impressive results with minimal downtime. Your surgeon will work with you during your consultation to decide on the technique that is right for you, your facial structure, and your goals.

Open Incision

The open incision technique is ideal for more significant cosmetic enhancements. The incision appears similar to an inverted “V” made at the columella, which is the central column of the nose that separates the nostrils. Once healed, the scar will become nearly invisible.

Closed Incision

The closed incision technique may be used in some cases. These incisions are made within the nasal passages, allowing you to avoid any visible scarring. The endonasal approach is usually reserved for patients desiring smaller, less drastic cosmetic changes.

Bone Removal

After the incisions are made, excess bone cartilage will be removed if necessary, so your surgeon can create your desired appearance and sense of function. In most rhinoplasty surgeries, the dorsal hump is the area that needs reduction.

Tissue Addition or Removal

Patients often want tissue removed or added to their noses. Excessive tissue is often removed, but in some cases, it needs to be added. When tissue needs to be added in the nose surgery, it may come from the nose, ear, ribs, or pelvis.

Skin Replacement

After your surgeon has successfully created your nose’s attractive new structure by either adding and/or removing bone and cartilage, he will carefully drape your facial skin back over the frame of your restructured nose.

Incision Closure

Finally, any incisions (whether internal or external) will be closed with “permanent” sutures, which are typically removed within five to 10 days. Dissolvable sutures are also an option your surgeon may recommend during your consultation.

If you are coming from Scottsdale, Gilbert, Mesa, Glendale, Chandler, Paradise Valley, or surrounding AZ areas or traveling to Elite Plastic Surgery from another state, during your nose job consultation at our office in Phoenix, AZ, you can express your feelings about your nose, what you would like to change to get the best rhinoplasty results in Arizona.

Our plastic surgeon will perform an examination of your nose and facial features, take photos of your nose, and explain the different techniques, risks, limitations, and possible outcomes you could achieve with your facial structure.

Recovery

Recovery after rhinoplasty or septoplasty surgery typically takes between two and four weeks, but every patient is different and heals according to their own timeframe. You can expect to experience swelling and bruising around your nose and eyes for approximately two to three weeks, and we’ll ensure that you have everything you need to remain comfortable. Keeping your head above your chest will markedly help improve any present swelling.

Congestion is also common following rhinoplasty surgery and can sometimes be caused by the splints and nasal packing that are worn during the first few days of your recovery process. After these splints have been removed, you will be able to more fully appreciate and admire the attractive new shape and contours of your nose. Most patients find that they’re able to return to their normal routines after about four to five weeks.

During your consultation, you’ll be provided with a set of aftercare instructions that will help you recover as comfortably as possible, and we’ll make sure to give you a detailed timeline that helps you understand what to expect from the recovery process. We’ll also schedule follow-up appointments to ensure that you’re healing properly, and our team will be available to you at all times throughout your journey with us.
