Breast Augmentation Incision Options
There are two types of incisions our plastic surgeons can perform for breast augmentation patients. You and your surgeon will explore the details of each incision type and will make a choice according to your ultimate goals before the actual date of your procedure. Your breast augmentation incision options include the following:
- Within the breast crease: This incision has the advantage of being the most direct (and most common) approach. It also conceals the scar easily within the breast crease.
- Around the nipple: Incisions around the nipple tend to heal well but also have drawbacks, such as nipple distortion, a loss of nipple sensation, and the implant potentially not fitting through the incision.
